Hu Yaoxin, who works at Ao Duo Qi, an agricultural entertainment destination in Pinghu, a county-level city administered by Jiaxing, has helped fight against COVID-19 six times over the past two years, local media reported on March 19.

He began contributing to the fight in January 2020 when Ao Duo Qi became the centralized isolation location in Caoqiao subdistrict.

"It'd be a lie to say I wasn't scared at first because I had no experience fighting the virus," said Hu. But still, as a housekeeping supervisor, Hu worked with his colleagues to satisfy the basic living requirements of those under quarantine at Ao Duo Qi.

Guided by medical workers, Hu also organized training sessions on how to fight against COVID-19 and prepared medical supplies for quarantined people.

Since then, Hu has participated in the fight against COVID-19 five times in a row and the most unforgettable moment for him was the night of Jan 31 – Lunar New Year's Eve.

That day, he hoped to go home to celebrate the traditional Chinese festival with his family, but was called into work and spent the festival with quarantined people and medical workers in duty.

On March 13, Pinghu reported its first confirmed COVID-19 case of the recent outbreak and as of 8 pm on March 20, there were 39 confirmed cases in the city.
