The per capita disposable income of rural residents in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, was 15,108 yuan ($2,264.03) in the first quarter of 2022, the highest among 11 cities in Zhejiang, according to the Jiaxing investigation team of the National Bureau of Statistics.
As of 2021, the income of rural residents in Jiaxing had ranked first in the province for the past 18 years.
Jiaxing has been ramping up efforts to develop a collective economy in recent years, and the collective incomes of each village in the city has surpassed 1.2 million yuan, with 70 villages exceeding 10 million yuan.
In addition, Jiaxing has initiated an agricultural economic development zone model and issued policies to provide up to 90 million yuan in support for the construction of such zones, promoting the integrative development of the primary, secondary and tertiary industries.
Guangchen town in Pinghu is one successful example. In 2017, the province's first agricultural economic development zone was inaugurated in Guangchen town. In less than four years, 38 agricultural modernization enterprises set up operations in the town, receiving a total of over 4 billion yuan in investment.
By 2025, Jiaxing expects the per capita disposable income of rural residents to reach 60,000 yuan and that of low-income households to reach 32,000 yuan.
