A freight train loaded with 100 containers departed from the Jiaxing East Railway Station in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province to the Shanghai Yangshan Port in Shanghai on June 25, signaling the start of operations for Jiaxing's first sea-rail combined transport route.

The train was loaded with solar modules, glass fiber and furniture made by Jiaxing enterprises, which will eventually be exported to the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Dominica.

Jiaxing rail-sea combined freight trains are expected to operate every two days.

Jiaxing rail-sea combined freight trains will operate on a fixed line and charge at a fixed freight price regardless of price fluctuations in the market, said Chen Dexing, an official of the Jiaxing management department of the Hangzhou railway freight center.

This year, the cargo handling capacity of Jiaxing rail-sea combined freight trains is expected to reach 10,000 TEUs, and by 2025, it is expected to reach 80,000 TEUs after the completion of the city's railway logistics system.

As an important supplement to the city's foreign trade logistics system, the sea-rail combined freight train provides Jiaxing with a more efficient and economical choice for cargo exports.
