The establishment of the academician workstation applied for by the G60 STI Valley Industry and Innovation Research Institute of Jiaxing University was recently approved, becoming the first overseas academician workstation in the Jiaxing Economic and Technological Development Zone.

The academician workstation was applied for by Alexey Semyanov, an academician of the Academy of Europe and the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is one of the world's leading experts in neuroscience, and has long been engaged in the research of extrasynaptic signals and neuron-glial interactions in the brain.

The workstation will carry out research on the changes and molecular mechanisms of astrocytes in the aging process, focus on the new biological mechanisms of aging, hearing loss and chronic pain on brain cognitive function, and use theoretical models to develop new artificial neural networks.

According to person in charge of the G60 STI Valley industry and Innovation Research Institute, the establishment of the academician workstation will promote the scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation of the research institute in the field of brain science.
