Xiamudang in Taozhuang town, Jiashan county, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, is home to the largest photovoltaic aquaculture project in Jiaxing.
The project, integrating fish farming with photovoltaic power generation, not only improves the utilization of green, clean and renewable energy, but also opens up a new way for locals to make money.
The photovoltaic panels installed in Xiajiadang cover a water area of more than 2,500 mu (166.67 hectares) and can generate more than 110 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually.
In addition, photovoltaic panels on each mu of water area can generate profits of up to 50,000-60,000 yuan ($7,414.67-$ 8,897.6) by generating electricity.
Meanwhile, the water under the photovoltaic panels is subleased to local fishermen as fish ponds.

The annual output of the 2,500-mu fish ponds was 250,000 kilograms of fish last year, worth more than 2 million yuan.
