Jiaxing pushes green growth

Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province had a total forest area of 54,100 hectares by the end of 2021, including 28,200 hectares of arbor forest and 22,800 hectares of arbor and shrub economic forest, with a forest coverage rate of 12.74 percent, official data showed.
In 2018, the city put forward the goal of striving to be a "National Forest City", which is a great honor for a city's ecological construction. After more than four years of hard work, the city has invested a total of 8.7 billion yuan ($1.28 billion) adding 7,662.5 hectares of greenery.
A system of plain natural protected areas including forest parks, scenic spots, wetland parks and marine parks has been established in the city, spanning a total area of more than 15,000 hectares and including forests, wetlands and oceans.
Meanwhile, the city's wetland area has reached 1.21 million mu (80,666 hectares).
In addition, the planting area of flowers and seedlings in the city has reached 200,000 mu, with an output value of more than 1.3 billion yuan. Chang'an town in Haining, Jiaxing has successfully developed itself into a flower town and has successively held several World Garden Shows.
