Xiuzhou's photovoltaic industry thrives
Xiuzhou district in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has made significant progress in the development of the photovoltaic industry in the past 10 years.
In 2021, the district's output value of the industrial enterprises above designated size in the photovoltaic industry totaled 7.33 billion yuan ($1.05 billion). From 2017 to 2021, the average annual growth rate was 45.7 percent. From January to July this year, the output value of photovoltaic new energy industry exceeded 15.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 72.3 percent.
The district is currently home to more than 200 photovoltaic new energy enterprises, including five listed enterprises.
Key technologies such as photoelectric conversion rate, photovoltaic glass deep processing and smart silicon technology in the district are at a nationally leading level. The light transmittance of photovoltaic glass products produced by Flat Glass Group Co Ltd in the district has reached 93.85 percent, far exceeding the national standard.
In addition, the operation of rooftop photovoltaic power stations in the district has been successful.

Eight photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof, and each one generates one kilowatt-hour a day, said Xu Yonggen, a resident of Nanyang community in Qianjiaqiao village.
A total of 80 households in the community installed such power stations and the electricity generated is purchased by the power supply company. Since the rooftop power station started operating eight years ago, villagers have got back their investment money and received a net income of more than 4,000 yuan per household.
Xiuzhou district is a domestic first-class demonstration area for the large-scale application of distributed photovoltaic power generation, a globally leading photovoltaic technology R&D and innovation area and a nationally well-known specialized photovoltaic intelligent manufacturing center.
