Pinghu ranks high nationwide for development potential

Pinghu, a county-level city in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, ranked 14th in the 2022 report of the top 100 counties in China for development potential, local media reported on Aug 20.
Human resources, economic vitality, development characteristics and living environment were among the indicators used to evaluate counties for the report.
In 2021, the GDP of Pinghu reached 90.75 billion yuan ($13.12 billion), an increase of 9.2 percent. The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 71,814 yuan and 43,914 yuan, respectively, up 9.1 percent and 10.1 percent.
Pinghu is located in the core area of the Yangtze River Delta, bordering Shanghai in the north and Hangzhou Bay in the south.
Relying on its superior geographical advantages, Pinghu is striving to become the collaboration place for mid-to-high-end industries in Shanghai, a tourism destination for Shanghai citizens, and an important source of agricultural products in Shanghai.
In addition, it is a provincial manufacturing high-quality development pilot city. It is home to the aerospace Pinghu industrial base of the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, which cost 15 billion yuan. The construction of the Shanghai-Pinghu intercity railway will soon start.
