Wuzhen wins national recognition

Wuzhen scenic spot in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, was part of the second batch of national nighttime culture and tourism consumption agglomeration areas released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Aug 25.

Wuzhen is a historic town located in Tongxiang city, a county-level city in Jiaxing.

The 1,300-year-old town has been listed as a national 5A scenic spot and ranked among China's top 10 charming and famous towns. Wuzhen is known as one of the six ancient towns to the south of the Yangtze River.

Wuzhen has been focusing on night tours in recent years. Through the use of lighting landscapes, immersive visual experiences, firework shows and traditional cultural performances, the scenic spot forms a unique night landscape.

In addition, according to the season, the scenic area has launched various night activities, such as the performance of the temple fair in spring, the night market by the water in summer, and the water lantern festival in winter.

Large-scale cultural activities in Wuzhen, especially the Wuzhen Theater Festival, are mostly theater plays held in the evening. Open-air fairs also feature night performances. Midnight reading activities and midnight theater plays have attracted many theater lovers.
