Puyuan textile, garment industry thrives
The textile and garment industry of Puyuan town, Tongxiang, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, has been thriving in recent years amid sporadic COVID-19 outbreaks by adapting.
Zhejiang has one of the biggest textile industries in China. The Puyuan woolen sweater market is the largest collection and distribution center for woolen sweaters in China.
In the face of the global pandemic and changes in the foreign trade environment in recent years, many textile enterprises are pursuing progress.
In the past two years, the revenue of Jiaxing Diwei Fashion Co Ltd in Puyuan grew by 30 percent annually, and its annual output exceeded 200 million yuan ($28.7 million). This year, its order growth is expected to exceed 20 percent.
At the beginning of 2020, the enterprise spent 300 million yuan on more than 300 sets of fully formed seamless knitting machined. The new device can make a garment from a piece of yarn automatically in 90 minutes.
Zhejiang Xige Industrial Co Ltd in Puyuan is engaged in the manufacture and sale of menswear. In 2020, the company tried livestreaming for the first time. The proportion of livestream sales is now on its way to 15 percent and is expected to reach 50 percent within four years.
On Sept 4, the livestream e-commerce building invested by the company will open. It will support thousands of woolen sweater enterprises in Puyuan to form a livestream e-commerce cluster by virtue of industrial chain advantages.
