The number of the newly registered foreign trade enterprises reached 1,077 in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, from January to August, according to the Jiaxing municipal bureau of commerce.

According to Jiaxing Customs, from January to July the total value of the city's trade in goods was 247.62 billion yuan ($35.76 billion), up 20.4 percent year-on-year. Exports were 181.32 billion yuan, an increase of 181.32 billion yuan year-on-year, while imports reached 66.3 billion yuan, up 20.8 percent year-on-year.

From January to July, a total of 4,796 enterprises in the city had trade relations with RCEP member countries, and their trade with RCEP countries reached 80.36 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.9 percent and accounting for 32.5 percent of the city's total. Exports were valued at 44.29 billion yuan, a year-on-year rise of 21.6 percent, while imports were valued at 36.07 billion yuan, increasing 24.5 percent year-on-year.

In the first half of this year, exports of fiberglass and bags soared by 77.4 percent and 65.5 percent, respectively.

In the same period, the city's export of high-tech products amounted to 29.01 billion yuan, up 33.8 percent year-on-year and accounting for 19.4 percent of the city's total. The per capita export of high-tech products was 5,259.8 yuan, the highest in the province.
