RCEP boosts foreign trade in Jiaxing

A total of 4,796 enterprises in Jiaxing, Zhejiang traded with RCEP member countries from January to July, according to the Jiaxing commerce bureau.

The trade volume with RCEP member countries amounted to 80.36 billion yuan ($11.36 billion), a year-on-year increase of 22.9 percent, and accounting for 32.5 percent of the city's total. Export value was 44.29 billion yuan, up 21.6 percent year-on-year, while import value reached 36.07 billion yuan, an increase of 24.5 percent year-on-year.

To facilitate enterprises' handling of certificates of origin conveniently the Jiaxing council for the promotion of international trade set up county-level service points in Haining, Jiashan, Tongxiang, Pinghu and Haiyan.

According to official statistics, from January to July, Jiaxing Customs and the Jiaxing council for the promotion of international trade issued 6,528 certificates of origin under RCEP worth a total of $303 million, helping 557 Jiaxing enterprises indirectly enjoy import tariff reductions of about 15.81 million yuan from RCEP member countries.

Meanwhile, the government is committed to promoting the development of direct flights between RCEP countries and regions.

Currently, Zhapu port has opened direct flights between Japan, Thailand and Vietnam, and flights on the Japanese route have increased from one flight a week to three.

In addition, to promote cross-border e-commerce, the city's commercial department has encouraged enterprises to establish overseas warehouses in RCEP member countries. Twenty-three have so far been established.
