The construction of the Jiashao High-Speed Jiashao Bridge Service Area in Haining county, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province's first zero-carbon service area, is now in full swing, local media reported on Oct 11.
The Jiashao High-Speed Jiashao Bridge Service Area is located in Jianshan village, Hangwan town.
On the north side of the west service area, the photovoltaic greenhouse covering an area of 10 mu (0.67 hectares) was completed at the end of August, paving 1,249 pieces of monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic panels.
The photovoltaic greenhouse, which can withstand up to level-12 winds, can convert sunlight into more than 2,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity every day when connected to the grid.
In addition, a roof-type distributed photovoltaic power generation project costing 18 million yuan ($2.49 million) started construction in June in the service area.
After completion, the roof-type distributed photovoltaic panels are expected to generate 200 to 210 kWh of electricity per year, enough to cover the annual electricity consumption of the service area.
