A total of 10,000 metric tons of nickel materials imported from Indonesia arrived at Zhapu Port in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on Oct 12.

Nickel hydroxide is the ninth category of dangerous goods and has the physical and chemical properties of marine pollutants.

For safety and compliance in the transport business, Zhejiang Seaport Jiaxing Harbor Co Ltd renovated its wharf and warehouse yard. At the end of September, the goods operating qualifications were obtained and Indonesia - Jiaxing new energy material shipping channels were launched.

This batch of goods was ordered by Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co Ltd.

"Nickel hydroxide is the main component of new-energy lithium electric materials. More than 90 percent of the company's nickel hydroxide is imported. The opening of the import channel in Jiaxing Port has strengthened the company's raw material supply," said a person in charge of Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co Ltd.

Official data showed that the offshore cargo throughput of Jiaxing Port exceeded 85.69 million tons from January to August, including 9.32 million tons of foreign trade, the second highest in the province. The cargo's imports and exports were valued at 287.12 billion yuan, up 19.8 percent year-on-year.
