Jiaxing Port's container throughput exceeds 2m TEUs in Q1-3

Jiaxing Port saw a total container throughput of 2.11 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) from January to September, a year-on-year increase of 29.04 percent, official data showed.
During the same period, the container throughput of the inland port in Jiaxing totaled 370,600 TEUs, up 33.97 percent year-on-year.
In the first three quarters, Jiaxing Port's total cargo throughput exceeded 96.62 million metric tons, and the cargo throughput of foreign trade reached 10.37 million tons.
The Jiaxing inland port handled a total of 79.05 tons of cargo from January to August, the highest in Zhejiang province.
With the help of sea-river combined transportation, the container throughput from the Zhapu port area of Jiaxing Port to the Haining inland river port area saw a significant increase in the first three quarters.
In addition, Jiaxing Port introduced "Zhapu-Huaian" and "Zhapu-Huaibin", two inter-provincial sea-river combined transportation routes, and opened two inland container berths. The number of sea-river combined container routes increased to 21, greatly improving container operating capacity.
From January to September, 27.21 million tons of cargo was transported via sea-river combined transportation in the city, an increase of 11.08 percent year-on-year. The container throughput of Jiaxing Port through sea-river combined transportation was 571,900 TEUs, a surge of 76.07 percent year-on-year.
