The groundbreaking ceremony of the high-end adhesive production base of Jowat (China) Adhesives Co Ltd was held in the Dushan Port Economic Development Zone in Pinghu, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province on Oct 20.

Receiving a total of 106 million yuan ($14.77 million) in investment, the base will take one year to build. It is expected to produce 9,000 metric tons of high-end adhesive annually after completion. Its annual sales revenue and annual tax payments are expected to reach 350 million yuan and 15 million yuan, respectively.

The base was funded by Jowat, a world's leading supplier of industrial adhesives headquartered in Detmold, Germany. It has six production bases around the world, with an annual output of more than 100,000 tons of adhesives and an annual sales revenue of about 400 million euros ($403 million).

The production base in Dushan Port is Jowat's first regional headquarters, R&D center and production base in China, and is also its seventh production base in the world.

Jowat's product types include hot melt adhesive, water adhesive and solvent adhesive. Its products are widely used in consumer electronics, household appliances, the automotive industry, the construction materials industry, industrial textiles, the packaging industry and more. Huawei, Xiaomi, Amazon, BAIC Benz, BMW, Tesla, Xiaopeng and Yutong are among its customers.

Electronic products will become an important part of the German rubber king's operations in the Chinese market, said Ralf Schelbach, vice president of Jowat Asian Pacific.
