The output value of the automobile manufacturing industry in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province totaled 37.8 billion yuan ($5.2 billion) from January to September, a year-on-year increase of 23.6 percent, according to the Jiaxing economy and information technology bureau.

New energy vehicles play an important role in stimulating the growth of the automobile manufacturing industry.  

For example, from January to September, the sales of Zhejiang Hezhong New Energy Vehicles Co Ltd expanded 168 percent year-on-year to 111,190, realizing year-on-year growth for 27 consecutive months.

In the same period, Great Wall Motors sold 802,313 vehicles and 96,916 new energy vehicles, up 14.31 percent year-on-year.

Thanks to the rapid development of new energy vehicle enterprises, the city's new energy industry also ranks at the forefront of the province. Official statistics showed that from January to September, Jiaxing produced 115,400 new energy vehicles, accounting for 27.7 percent of the province's total and ranking first in the province.

The output value of the city's automobile manufacturing industry is expected to reach 100 billion yuan at the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), said an official of the Jiaxing economy and information technology bureau.
