Internet boosts Jiaxing's agricultural development
Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province has been striving to promote the development of rural e-commerce in recent years to expand sales channels for agricultural products and help achieve common prosperity.
Official data showed that from January to September, the city had 1,066 active online agricultural stores on Taobao, Tmall and Jingdong platforms. A total of 65 provincial e-commerce demonstration villages and 23 municipal rural e-commerce demonstration villages (enterprises) had been established in the city.
E-commerce serves as an additional sales channels and makes it easier to meet more like-minded people, incentivizing more young people to join the agriculture industry in the new era, said Wang Tianyun, founder of Tasha's Garden.
Wang has fully leveraged network platforms to build its brand awareness. She shares her gardening life and horticultural techniques on her WeChat account and short video platforms such as Kuaishou and Douyin, attracting numerous fans.
Tasha's Garden has become a famous brand in the home gardening industry, having 6 million online followers and 45 million yuan ($6.18 million) in sales revenue in 2021, with 50 percent of sales coming from livestreams.
