Jiaxing's economy posts steady recovery in Q1-3

Jiaxing's gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 477.19 billion yuan ($73.41 billion) in the first nine months of this year, up 2.4 percent year-on-year, and 0.9 percentage points higher than that in H1, according to official statistics.

The added value of the city's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries reached 8.72 billion yuan, 263.1 billion yuan and 205.37 billion yuan, a rise of 1.9 percent, 2.7 percent, and 1.9 percent respectively.

Its agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery industries registered a year-on-year increase of 2 percent to 16.07 billion yuan during the nine-month period.

The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in Jiaxing expanded 4 percent year-on-year to 207.63 billion yuan.

More than 60 percent of the 33 major industries in the city posted positive growth in added value.

Stable growth was seen in its service sector, whose added value grew 1.9 percent year-on-year to hit 205.37 billion yuan from January to September.

Over the same period, the city's investment in fixed assets also recorded an 8.8-percent increase, with the grow rate being 0.5 percentage points lower than the figure in H1.

Jiaxing also posted a strong recovery in consumption in the past nine months. The city's retail sales of social consumption goods during this period amounted to 166.13 billion yuan, a jump of 2.3 percent year-on-year.

Its foreign trade volume rose 20.3 percent year-on-year to 326.01 billion yuan, with exports rising 20.1 percent to 238.82 billion yuan.

Jiaxing's fiscal revenue decreased by 14.4 percent year-on-year to 84.07 billion yuan. The general public budget revenue totaled 50.5 billion yuan, down by 2.4 percent, while the general public budget expenditure hit 60.59 billion yuan, edging up 0.1 percent.

Income levels also improved. Per capita disposable income of the city's urban residents in the first three quarters of this year increased by 3.3 percent to 55,897 yuan, while the figure for rural residents was 38,091 yuan, up 5.9 percent year-on-year.
