Maodun Literature Prize Ceremony to be held in Jiaxing in 2023

In 2023, the "Chinese Literature Festival - Night of Mao Dun Literature Prize" will be held in Mao Dun's hometown of Tongxiang, Zhejiang.

The news was announced during the "Chinese Literature Festival – Night of Lu Xun Literature Prize" on the evening of Nov 20.

The winners of the Mao Dun Literature Prize are selected every four years, and 2023 will be the year of the 11th Mao Dun Literature Prize.

The Mao Dun Literature Prize, sponsored by the Chinese Writers Association, was established in 1981 according to the wishes of Mao Dun. It aims to recognize excellent novels and is one of the most prestigious literary awards in China.

The Mao Dun Literature Prize Ceremony has been held 10 times, and the first four Mao Dun Literature Prize Ceremonies were held in Beijing.

Tongxiang held the 6th and 7th Maodun Literature Prize Ceremony after the 5th Maodun Literature Prize Ceremony was held in Wuzhen, Tongxiang in 2000. The 8th, 9th and 10th Mao Dun Literature Prize Ceremony were also held in Beijing.

The Tongxiang government has rebuilt the Zhaoming Academy in order to host the Mao Dun Literature Prize long-term.
