Jiaxing's foreign trade exceeds 400b yuan in Jan-Nov

Jiaxing's imports and exports were valued at 404.04 billion yuan ($58.47 billion) from January to November, a year-on-year increase of 19.1 percent, and the fourth highest in Zhejiang province, according to the Jiaxing Customs.

Exports totaled 295.71 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 18.2 percent, while imports reached 108.33 billion yuan, up 21.9 percent year-on-year.

In November, the city's trade with ASEAN saw rapid growth. The city's exports to ASEAN were valued at 5.13 billion yuan, a year-on-year surge of 52.5 percent, while exports to Indonesia increased by 30 percent. The city imported 4.13 billion yuan in goods from ASEAN, a year-on-year rise of 110 percent.

In November, the city's exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative totaled 10.48 billion yuan, up 26.1 percent year-on-year and accounting for 35.8 percent of the city's total exports, while imports were valued at 5.23 billion yuan, a rise of 84.7 percent year-on-year and accounting for 48.4 percent of the city's total imports.

The city's mechanical and electrical exports maintained strong growth. In November, such exports were valued at 16.52 billion yuan, up 21.0 percent. High-tech exports were valued at 8.06 billion yuan, increasing by a factor of 43.9 and driving up the city's export growth rate by 9.5 percentage points in the same period.

Meanwhile, the city's imports of flat panel display modules for mechanical and electrical products were valued at 2.52 billion yuan, driving up the city's import growth rate by 27.6 percentage points.
