Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province is expected to accelerate the construction of a combined transport hub, according to a work report delivered at the first session of the 13th Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which ended on Jan 15.

The city is perfect for being the hub of roads, railway, waterway, and aviation.

It is built on flat land and located in the center of the Yangtze River Delta. A national and provincial highway network featuring five east-west roads and five north-south roads has taken shape in the city.

Jiaxing is also an ideal place to develop sea-river combined transport as it is located near the Donghai Sea and the Yangtze River. Jiaxing Port ranks 83rd among the top 100 container ports in the world.

In the first three quarters of last year, the container throughput of Jiaxing Port increased 29.04 percent year-on-year to 2.11 million twenty-foot equivalent units, including 571,900 TEUs delivered via sea-river combined transportation.

Jiaxing started building the Jiaxing Airport, a civil and military airport, on Nov 23, 2022, and the air logistics base of YTO Express, a major parcel delivery company in China, is also currently under construction in the city.

The city mapped out plans for its transportation development at the beginning of this year. By 2027, it plans to invest a cumulative 200 billion yuan ($29.88 billion) in transportation infrastructure and have a well-developed transportation system.
