Tongxiang recognized as Zhejiang provincial cultural inheritance ecological conservation area
Tongxiang in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, was recently included on the list of Zhejiang provincial cultural inheritance ecological conservation areas released by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, local media reported on Jan 17.
Tongxiang in Jiaxing and Deqing county in Huzhou, known as "the hometowns of sericulture", are the most well-known areas of Zhejiang silk weaving culture preservation, focusing on the protection and innovative development of silk weaving culture.
In 2021, the Tongxiang sericulture system was selected as China's most important agricultural cultural heritage.
In addition, Tongxiang is the county-level city with the largest mulberry plantation area and highest yield in the province.
To better protect and promote silk weaving culture, the two places have built two comprehensive intangible cultural heritage halls, 92 intangible cultural heritage exploration facilities, two traditional craft workstations, and 13 intangible cultural heritage workshops.
