The Implementation Plan for Accelerating the Construction of the Sea-River Combined Transport Hub Port in the Yangtze River Delta (2023-25) was recently released, marking a new stage in the construction of sea-river combined transport in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province.

According to the plan, Jiaxing Port is expected to achieve an annual cargo throughput of over 150 million metric tons, a port container throughput of over 5 million TEUs, and a container sea-river combined transport throughput of over 1.6 million TEUs by the end of 2025, increases of over 10 percent, 65 percent and 60 percent over 2023, respectively.

In addition, the city will strive to add more than three offshore routes, more than three domestic trade routes, and over nine inland river routes.

Also in 2022, the container throughput of Jiaxing inland river ports was 509,300 TEUs, up 34.24 percent year-on-year.

In the past year, the city handled a total of 37.88 million tons of cargo via sea-river combined transport and 776,000 TEUs of container sea-river combined transport, up 9.06 percent and 67.42 percent year-on-year, accounting for 82.5 percent and 99 percent of the provincial total, respectively.
