Tongxiang-made supplies fly to Turkiye
An airplane loaded with a batch of emergency supplies took off at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Feb 10 for Turkiye, which recently suffered from a severe earthquake.
Among the supplies, there are 500 quilts and 500 pillows from Tongxiang Zhongxiang Textile Co Ltd with a total value of 100,000 yuan ($14,648).
"Although the company has a small market share in Turkiye, it produces home textiles to protect against the cold, and we should help each other in the face of this disaster," said Xu Jianping, general manager of the company.
The company received a request for help on Feb 6 and started production on Feb 7.
In just three days, the company rushed out 500 supplies.
Turkiye, located at the crossroads of Eurasia, is an emerging market economy with developed industry and does a lot of business with Tongxiang.
In 2022, Tongxiang's imports from Turkiye were valued at 80 million yuan and its exports to Turkiye were valued at 950 million yuan.
