Jiashan sees record imports, exports

The foreign trade of Jiashan county, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province exceeded 70 billion yuan ($10.2 billion) for the first time last year, reaching 75.16 billion yuan, up 32.2 percent year-on-year.

Exports were valued at 51.36 billion yuan, an increase of 15.3 percent year-on-year, while imports were valued at 23.79 billion yuan, with a whopping rise of 93.4 percent year-on-year.

Foreign trade enterprises played an important role in stimulating the city's rapid growth.

The top 30 export enterprises exported 35.54 billion yuan worth of goods, accounting for 69.2 percent of the county's total exports.

Last year, Jiashan issued policies and measures to stabilize foreign trade and foreign investment. In 2022, the county's foreign trade support funds amounted to 70 million yuan.

In the past year, the county's exports to RCEP member countries reached 13.65 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 56.53 percent, while its total imports and exports were 31.91 billion yuan, a year-on-year surge of 106.43 percent.

The county's exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative stood at 15.45 billion yuan, up 54.93 percent year-on-year, while its imports and exports totaled 33.33 billion yuan, an increase of 104.4 percent year-on-year.

"Last year the company exported $48 million worth of goods, up 27 percent year-on-year, and this year it is striving to expand into new markets overseas," said Xu Caili, manager of the foreign trade department of Jinyi Industrial Co Ltd.

"The company has seized the opportunity of the RCEP and has applied for 73 certificates of origin under the RCEP, which will help the company expand its market in Indonesia and bring tariff advantages," Xu added.
