The online retail sales of Haiyan county in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, saw an increase of 13.2 percent year-on-year to 4.74 billion yuan ($682.9 million) in 2022, according to the Haiyan commerce bureau.

The top three industries in online retail sales are home furnishings, motorcycle accessories, clothing, shoes and bags, which were mainly sold on platforms such as Taobao, JD.com and Tmall, providing 7,930 jobs.

There were more than 770 e-commerce enterprises in the county. Unlike traditional e-commerce trading enterprises, Haiyan e-commerce enterprises were mainly engaged in manufacturing, exploring new sales channel via livestreams.

Last year, the company's output value reached 160 million yuan. Due to e-commerce platforms, the company's products have a broader sales market and enjoy strong sales, said Shi Jianping, general manager of Jiaxing Taitaile Smart Home Co Ltd.

The company's retail sales on its Tmall e-commerce platform alone reached 30 million yuan in 2022, added Shi.

In recent years, Haiyan's e-commerce industry has continued to grow. Livestream e-commerce has brought new impetus to the development of secondary and tertiary enterprises and provided a way to promote the local agricultural industry.

In April last year, due to the COVID-19 epidemic, the vegetable sales and transportation of many farms in the county were affected. However, more than 10,000 kilograms of vegetables have been sold in three days thanks to various e-commerce platforms.
