The Puyuan sweater market, the largest sweater distribution center in China, saw 13.6 billion yuan ($1.97 billion) in transactions in February, up 239 percent year-on-year.

February was the first month after the Puyuan sweater market reopened after the Spring Festival.

The cargo consignment volume, unloading volume and express delivery volume increased by 84.58 percent, 85.79 percent and 290.52 percent year-on-year, respectively, getting the new year off to a good start.

In recent years, the sweater industry in Puyuan has been closely following fashion trends, and has transformed from a single wool knitted product to a full range of all-season clothing.

The market has recently entered its peak period for orders, with an average daily passenger flow of about 3,000, doubling from the same period last year.

The overall shipment volume in February was about 20,000 items, an increase of about 30 percent year-on-year, said Zhang Zhen, a businessman who sells men's pants at the market.

In order to improve customers' shopping experience, the market is developing into a complex equipped with coffee and snacks and is optimizing its leisure service areas.

Meanwhile, the market has set up an account on Douyin (the Chinese version of Tiktok) to enhance its popularity and influence throughout the country.
