The Kautex Asia Tech Center, which is Kautex's only tech center in Asia, was recently put into operation in the Pinghu Economic and Technological Development Zone in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, local media reported on March 9.

The first phase of the tech center saw an investment of 60 million yuan ($8.62 million) in equipment, including a R&D center and laboratory, which mainly serve well-known enterprises such as SAIC and Geely.

The R&D center develops and verifies more energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly and safe fuel tank and battery products.

The laboratory includes a fuel test area, electric test area and non-fuel test area, which can provide functionality, environmental reliability, mechanical reliability and safety testing capabilities.

As one of the world's largest automotive fuel tank system manufacturers and one of the world's top 100 automotive parts enterprises, Kautex has long been a global leader in the manufacturing of hybrid fuel tanks, traditional plastic fuel systems, selective catalytic reduction systems and clear vision systems.

In May 2019, Kautex (Pinghu) Plastic Technology Co Ltd began producing automotive fuel systems that meet "national VI" emission standards and are used by hybrid vehicles.

Shanghai and its surrounding areas are home to one of China's automobile industry clusters, boasting a high-quality automobile industry. This is an important reason why the company decided to set up a tech center in Pinghu, said Joerg Rautenstrauch, president and chief executive officer of Kautex.

Pinghu is home to a large number of global 500 and leading enterprises in the auto parts field.

Last year, the number of auto parts enterprises in Pinghu exceeded 150, and their output value exceeded 30 billion yuan ($4.31 billion).
