A batch of silkworm eggs from Tongxiang Sericulture Co Ltd in Jiaxing, Zhejiang province, were recently exported to Uzbekistan. It is the first batch of silkworm eggs to be exported from Zhejiang province, local media reported on March 14.

These silkworm eggs will hatch soon after arriving in Uzbekistan. The company will send technical workers to guide silkworm breeding, said Shen Baimin, assistant to the general manager of Tongxiang Sericulture Co Ltd.

The company has been exporting silkworm eggs since 1999, and its export markets are mainly Uzbekistan, Greece, Turkiye and Pakistan.

The low hatching rate of local silkworm eggs, small cocoons and low production restrict the development of local silkworm farming technology and industry in Central Asian countries.

This batch of exported silkworm eggs were developed and cultivated by Tongxiang Sericulture Co Ltd and the Silkworm Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. They have high disease and temperature resistance, and their survival and hatching rates are higher than common silkworm eggs.

In addition, the company has also provided technical assistance to enterprises in export destinations.
