Zuili Cultural Festival kicks off in Jiaxing

The 5th Zuili Cultural Festival kicked off in Taoyuan village, Wutong sub-district, Tongxiang, Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, on March 18 and will last until June.

A variety of activities will be held during the event, including a cultural and creative product competition, market fairs, art exhibitions and garden tours.

Zuili, a type of Chinese plum, has been grown for more than 2,500 years in Tongxiang and played an important role in bringing wealth to locals.

Taoyuan village grows zuili over an area of 1,800 mu (120 hectares). More than 570 households are engaged in the growing of the tree, with an average income of 46,000 yuan ($6,746).
