Jiaxing Port handles 3.2m tons of cargo in Q1

The cargo throughput of Jiaxing Port exceeded 32.09 million metric tons in the first quarter of this year, up 6.72 percent year-on-year.

The foreign trade throughput reached 3.73 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.09 percent.

Since the increase in ship density in August last year, the coastal routes between Jiaxing Port and Japan have become increasingly attractive to enterprises in Hangzhou, Jiaxing, Huzhou, the Jinshan area of Shanghai and Kunshan.

The Jiaxing Port completed a total container throughput of 714,300 TEUs in the first three months, up 21.6 percent year-on-year.

The throughput of sea-river combined transportation was 7.76 million tons, ranking first in the province with a year-on-year growth of 20 percent. The container throughput of sea-river combined transportation was 188,600 TEUs, up 27.17 percent year-on-year.

In March, with the recovery of the economy, the port saw a peak in productivity, and the container throughput of coal, mining and construction materials increased significantly, pushing the monthly cargo throughput of Jiaxing Port up to 13.3 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 27.23 percent and a record monthly throughput.
