Over 500 Jiaxing enterprises to attend Canton Fair
A total of 511 companies from Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, will attend the 133rd Canton Fair, which will be held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province from April 15 to May 5.
Jiaxing obtained 1,017 booths at the exhibition, 262 more than last year, a year-on-year growth of 34.7 percent and the highest number in history.
A total of 160 enterprises from the city will participate in the Canton Fair for the first time, operating 282 exhibition booths. Twenty-three Jiaxing enterprises have obtained 24 booths in the three newly established exhibition areas for intelligent manufacturing, new energy, and maternity, baby's and children's products.
Foreign trade accounts for 65.3 percent of Jiaxing's GDP, and the Canton Fair has provided a platform for enterprises to align supply with demand, said an official of the Jiaxing municipal commerce bureau.
By the end of last year, Jiaxing was home to more than 8,500 import and export enterprises that traded with more than 220 countries and regions, with a total foreign trade value of 440 billion yuan ($64.28 billion), a record high. The exports of high-tech products accounted for 21.3 percent of the city's total exports, ranking first in Zhejiang province.
