Jiaxing's industrial economy gets off to a good start

The added value of industrial enterprises above designated size in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, expanded by 8.7 percent year-on-year to 66.96 billion yuan ($9.72 billion) in the first three months of this year, local media outlets reported on April 19.
The added value of enterprises above designated size from high-tech, equipment manufacturing, strategic emerging industries, and core digital industries totaled 48.4 billion yuan, 30.01 billion yuan, 31.19 billion yuan, and 14.7 billion yuan respectively.
The auto and auto parts sector, for example, is an important part of the equipment manufacturing industry in Jiaxing. In recent years, the city has promoted the construction of infrastructure and supporting facilities in the auto industry clustering zone.
A whole auto industrial chain involving passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, special vehicles, auto parts, and tires has taken shape in Jiaxing. Statistics show that in the first quarter, the added value of the city's auto industry jumped 20.6 percent from last year to 3.53 billion yuan.
Jiaxing authorities plan to launch 100 matchmaking activities to accelerate the integration of different industrial chains, including new-generation network communication, photovoltaic new energy, and new materials. Currently, 32 such activities, which were attended by over 3,400 local businesses, have been held.
