Jiaxing's GDP up 6.1% in Q1

The gross domestic product of Jiaxing in Zhejiang province totaled 161.85 billion yuan ($23.45 billion) in the first quarter of 2023, a year-on-year increase of 6.1 percent, 1.6 percentage points higher than the national average and 1.2 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

The added values of the city's primary, secondary and tertiary industries were 2.11 billion yuan, 85.01 billion yuan and 74.72 billion yuan, respectively, up 2.7 percent, 6.4 percent and 6 percent.

During this period, the cumulative output value of the agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishing industries reached 4.58 billion yuan, an uptick of 2.7 percent year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the added value of the city's above-designated-size industrial enterprises expanded 8.7 percent to 66.95 billion yuan, 5.7 percentage points higher than the provincial average growth rate, ranking third in the province.

The city's fixed asset investment increased 13 percent year-on-year. The growth rate was 3.9 percentage points higher than the provincial average, the highest in the province.

Total retail sales of consumer goods in the city amounted to 60.88 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.3 percent.

Imports and exports of the city were valued at 104.53 billion yuan, up 5.9 percent year-on-year, 1.1 percentage points higher than the provincial average.

The city's fiscal revenue totaled 42.09 billion yuan, among which the general public budget revenue was 25.51 billion yuan, the third highest in the province, a year-on-year growth of 1.9 percent. Expenditure in the general public budget reached 22.51 billion yuan, up 10.3 percent, of which 18.02 billion yuan was spent on people's wellbeing, accounting for 79.9 percent of the total.

The per capita disposable income of urban residents in the city was 22,406 yuan, an uptick of 3 percent year-on-year, while that of rural residents was 15,851 yuan, an increase of 4.9 percent.

The income ratio of urban and rural residents in the city was 1.41:1, a decrease of 0.03 compared with the same period last year.
