The 10th Wuzhen Theater Festival is scheduled to be held from Oct 19 to 29 in Wuzhen town, Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing in East China's Zhejiang province.

In 10 days, hundreds of performing groups will give more than 2,000 performances in the ancient town, including improvisational comedies, traditional operas, traditional dance dramas, puppet shows and digital performances.

As a diverse and inclusive platform for international cultural exchange, the Wuzhen Theater Festival is committed to providing more opportunities for young theatergoers to learn, create and communicate.

The organizing committee of the Wuzhen Theater Festival released a proposition and rules for the Emerging Theater Artists Competition of the 10th Wuzhen Theater Festival on April 25 and later opened registration for the competition and the Outdoor Carnival.

Contestants can log in to the official website of the Wuzhen Theater Festival (www.wuzhenfestival.com) to register from April 25 to Aug 20. The preliminary judges of the festival will hold a primary election based on the online registration results and announce a list of 18 shortlisted works on Sept 24.

All shortlisted works will participate in two or three public performances during the Wuzhen Theater Festival for the preliminary competition. Six to eight works will enter the final competition.

The festival will give out one Best Drama Award with a bonus of 200,000 yuan ($28,934), one Best Individual Performance Award with a bonus of 60,000 yuan and several Special Attention Awards.
