Jiaxing's consumer market shows steady growth in Q1

The retail sales of consumer goods in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province totaled 60.88 billion yuan ($8.8 billion) in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year growth of 8.3 percent, the highest growth rate in the province, according to the Jiaxing statistics bureau.

Data show that the added value of the service sector in the first quarter reached 74.72 billion yuan, an uptick of 6 percent.

The city's catering industry saw recovery. In the first quarter, the city's revenue from catering reached 4 billion yuan, up 15.2 percent.

The auto market also rebounded due to the promotion of related consumption coupons and changes to vehicle emission standards. The retail sales of new energy vehicles reached 1.98 billion yuan, a whopping year-on-year increase of 162.9 percent.

Meanwhile, the per capita disposable income of all residents in the city was 20,001 yuan, up 3.7 percent year-on-year and for the first time more than 20,000 yuan.

In this period, the urban-rural income ratio of the city was 1.41:1, which decreased by 0.03 compared with the same period last year and was once again the lowest in the province.
