Jiaxing Zhapu port connected to Vladivostok
On June 1, Vladivostok port in Russia will be made a transit port for domestic goods, and Jiaxing Zhapu port will become an entry port for the cross-border transportation of domestic goods, according to the General Administration of Customs.
This means that Jilin's domestic goods will cross the border into Russia and go directly to Jiaxing via Vladivostok port in the future. The implementation of this policy will also increase the service area of Zhapu port and further enhance the port's competitiveness.
Vladivostok is located on the main road of the Eurasian Continental Bridge and has a favorable location, providing enterprises in Northeast China with a broader market and more opportunities.
The transportation of goods in Jilin province used to be relatively expensive in terms of cost and time because the province is far from domestic ports. Goods needed to be transported by rail or road to domestic ports closer to the province, and then transported to southern regions such as Zhejiang through coastal routes.
The cost of transporting goods from Jilin province to Russia by rail or road is much lower than that of transporting them to domestic ports. When Zhapu port becomes an entry port for the cross-border transportation of domestic goods, goods from Jilin province will be able to be transported to Zhapu in Jiaxing via the "Zhapu-Vladivostok" direct route.
The voyage between Zhapu and Vladivostok is relatively short, taking just one week round-trip. Rail transportation from Vladivostok to Europe also takes only about one week. The "Zhapu-Vladivostok" direct route will help further boost Jiaxing's export business.
