Jiaxing's imports and exports totaled 140.23 billion yuan ($19.84 billion) from January to April, a year-on-year increase of 9.3 percent, according to Jiaxing Customs.

Exports were valued at 108.43 billion yuan, up 18 percent year-on-year.

In April, the city's export growth rate was 15.5 percentage points higher than the Zhejiang provincial average.

In April, the city's exports of mechanical and electrical products expanded 43 percent year-on-year to 15.5 billion yuan, while the export of high-tech products reached 6.71 billion yuan, a surge pf 56.8 percent year-on-year.

The city's labor-intensive product exports amounted to 8.6 billion yuan, up 37 percent year-on-year in April.

Located in Tongxiang, Jiaxing Cloud Dragon Apparels Technology Co Ltd mainly produces thermal clothing, and its products are exported to North America, Europe, the United States and Japan, among which the US market accounted for more than 70 percent of the total.

From January to April, the company's exports exceeded 90 million yuan, a substantial increase of more than 30 percent year-on-year.

In addition, the city's exports to emerging markets increased sharply in April.

The city's exports to Latin American countries were valued at 2.25 billion yuan, up 72.5 percent year-on-year. Exports to RCEP member states reached 7.24 billion yuan, up 42.1 percent year-on-year and accounting for 25.4 percent of the city's total exports. Exports to countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative were valued at 9.88 billion yuan, an increase of 53.1 percent year-on-year and accounting for 34.7 percent of the city's total exports.
