The added value of Jiaxing's service industry reached 74.72 billion yuan ($10.52 billion) in the first quarter of this year, a year-on-year increase of 6 percent, according to the Jiaxing municipal development and reform commission.

During this period, five major industries in Jiaxing, including wholesale, retail, accommodation, catering and other for-profit service industries, achieved positive growth.

Enriching nighttime activities has significantly increased tourism spending in the scenic area, as tourists stay longer and spend more on dining, accommodation, shopping, and entertainment, said an employee of the Wuzhen scenic area.
