This year's Duanwu, or Dragon Boat Festival, will fall on June 22.

The annual Jiaxing Duanwu Folk Culture Festival will be held from June 21 to 24. A total of 20 activities focusing on heritage, inheritance, and innovation will be held.

The highlights of this year's festival include dragon and lion dance performances, dragon boat racing, a tai bai chuan (a kind of rowing competition popular in Jiaxing) performance competition and a zongzi making competition.

For the first time, the festival will hold a Danyang Fair themed on Song Dynasty (960-1279) culture, Dragon Boat Festival customs, zongzi, sachet, and local folk customs.

The main activities will be held at the Zicheng Ruins Park.

Jiaxing is China's first research base for Duanwu culture, and this year marks the seventeenth anniversary of Jiaxing Duanwu Folk Culture Festival.

In the past 17 years, Jiaxing has been working to preserve Duanwu culture, promote Chinese traditional culture, and make the Jiaxing Duanwu Folk Culture Festival more popular among tourists.
