'Light of Wuzhen' Supercomputing Center wins national recognition

The "Light of Wuzhen" Supercomputing Center was recently designated a national supercomputing center after it passed the expert review organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, local media reported on June 13.

It became the only national supercomputing center in Zhejiang and the 14th in China.

The "Light of Wuzhen" Supercomputing Center, as Zhejiang's first supercomputing center, started construction in November 2020.

The first phase of the center was completed and put into operation in May last year. Its computing power has reached 180 PFlops, making it among the top 10 in the world in terms of power level.

The average utilization rate of the supercomputing center exceeds 40 percent, with a total of 9,874 users, including research institutes under the Chinese Academy of Sciences, key laboratories, scientific research institutes, universities, and innovative enterprises in the province.

It covers fields such as physical chemistry materials, bioinformatics and artificial intelligence.

Last year, the "Light of Wuzhen" Industrial Park's production value exceeded 1 billion yuan ($139.65 milion).

In the future, the national "Light of Wuzhen" Supercomputing Center will continue to strengthen scientific research and application in the field of high-performance computing, promote the application of research results, and strive to better serve national and regional innovation and development.
