Thirty new hydrogen-powered container trucks were put into use in the Zhapu port area of Jiaxing Port on June 14.

There are now 50 hydrogen-powered container trucks at Jiaxing Port, exceeding the number of fuel-powered container trucks.

In December last year, Jiaxing Port used 20 hydrogen-powered container trucks for container transportation, replacing diesel-powered container trucks.

These 20 hydrogen-powered container trucks have transported a total of more than 270,000 standard containers in half a year.

The 30 new hydrogen-powered container trucks can operate smoothly in extremely cold climates as low as -30 C.

Their average hydrogen consumption per hundred kilometers is about 8-9 kilograms during short-distance operations in Jiaxing.

They are 15-20 percent more economical than traditional oil vehicles in equivalent working conditions.

In terms of fuel costs, hydrogen-powered container trucks save about 1.5 yuan (20.95 cents) per standard container compared with traditional fuel-powered container trucks.

These 50 hydrogen-powered container trucks are expected to reduce carbon emissions by more than 2,600 metric tons per year, equivalent to planting more than 510,000 trees.

By the end of this year, there will be 100 hydrogen-powered container trucks operating in the Jiaxing Port Area, and another 200 will be added next year. By the end of 2025, there is expected to be nearly 1,000 hydrogen-powered logistics vehicles operating in the Jiaxing Port Area.
