As of early June this year, 88 batches of Jiaxing rice dumplings worth 4.95 million yuan ($695,504), a year-on-year increase of 2.2 percent, had been exported to more than 10 countries and regions, including Europe and the US, according to data from Jiaxing Customs.

On the production line of Zhejiang Wufangzhai Co Ltd, workers are currently busy making rice dumplings.

"For exported rice dumplings, skilled workers can wrap up to seven rice dumplings per minute," said Shen Qian, an employee at the company's import and export department.

It is currently the peak season for rice dumpling exports and rice dumpling export declarations can be completed online. The on-site customs clearance process is fast, ensuring the flavor of the rice dumplings is preserved, added Shen.

Jiaxing Customs has promoted intelligent supervision and digital customs clearance for rice dumpling exports.

"Many countries have strict restrictions on food imports, not only on product quality, but also on labeling and identification," said Xu Jie, an official of Jiaxing Customs.

Customs provides technical support for rice dumpling production and export enterprises and informs them of relevant food safety cases and entry requirements of major export countries and regions.
