The opening ceremony of the 2023 Jiaxing Duanwu Folk Culture Festival was held at the Zicheng Ruins Park on the morning of June 21.

Jiaxing has held the Duanwu Folk Culture Festival for seventeen years in a row, preserving and improving traditional culture. The festival showcases the city's rich cultural heritage.

Jiaxing is China's first research base for Duanwu culture, and the Duanwu Folk Culture Festival is a local traditional cultural festival approved by the country.

From June 21 to 24, the Zicheng Ruins Park will hold a series of cultural activities such as the Duanyang Fair, which gives visitors a taste of Song Dynasty (960-1279) culture, dragon and lion dance performances, traditional Duanwu folk customs such as a zongzi making competition, and family games.

In addition, over the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, 20 cultural activities such as a guanniu competition (a kind of Jiaxing local bullfight competition), opera performances, and food fairs will be held in the main urban area, counties, county-level cities and districts, promoting excellent traditional culture and offering up a cultural feast.
