This year marks the 200th anniversary of Sandor Petofi's birth, and the Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai brought the world's largest "Petofi book" to Jiaxing.
The opening date of the exhibition happens to be China's Dragon Boat Festival holiday, which commemorates the country's first romantic patriotic poet, Qu Yuan.
Starting from June 23, the Jiaxing Library and Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai have been holding a series of activities themed on love and freedom - the 200th anniversary of the birth of Hungarian poet Pedofi and the commemoration of Chinese poet Qu Yuan.
Cooperation between Hungary and Jiaxing in trade, culture and education has also been strengthened, and this year marks the third year of cooperation between the Jiaxing Library and the Consulate General of Hungary in Shanghai.
The world's largest "Petofi book", measuring 3 meters in height and 1.5 meters in width and weighing 650 kilograms, is currently on display on the first floor hall of the Jiaxing Library. It tells the story of Janos Vitez, a long narrative poem written by Petofi in 1844 and based on Hungarian folk mythology.
The interactive installation of the world's largest "Petofi book" was previously exhibited in Shanghai and Ningbo in April and May, respectively. The exhibition at the Jiaxing Library will be held from June 23 to July 23.
