The Jiaxing session of the 2023 Zhejiang-Taiwan Cooperation Week opened in Jiaxing on July 5.

Agreements for 18 Taiwan-funded projects in 2023 were signed at the opening ceremony, with a total investment of $1.48 billion.

The projects involve digital economy, new material applications, auto parts manufacturing, semiconductor equipment, high-end equipment manufacturing, and refined agriculture.

Thanks to the improving business environment, the number of Taiwan enterprises in Jiaxing has continued to increase.

Since 1987, a total of 1,946 Taiwan-funded enterprises have set up operations in the city, with a total investment of $24.13 billion. Among the nine Taiwan-funded enterprises listed in the Fortune Global 500, three have invested in Jiaxing. In the first quarter of this year, Jiaxing received a total investment of $506 million from Taiwan.

In recent years, Jiaxing has also accelerated the construction of cross-Strait youth entrepreneurship bases, and a large number of young people from Taiwan have come to start businesses and work in Jiaxing, injecting new vitality into exchanges between the two places.

Yan Zhenhui, executive director of Minth University of Science and Technology, said: "In addition to signing contracts, I also brought nearly 20 students over here to participate in a cross-Strait youth digital economy innovation entrepreneurship training camp with students from Jiaxing Vocational & Technical College. In the future, we will arrange for students from both sides to interact during winter and summer vacations, promoting exchanges between young people on both sides of the Strait."
