Jiaxing Port's throughput ranks 75th globally

Lloyd's List recently published the 2022 ranking of the top 100 container ports in the world. Jiaxing Port ranked 75th globally, up eight places from last year, achieving a five-year consecutive rise in global rankings and ranking first in throughput growth among national ports.

In 2022, Jiaxing Port saw a total cargo throughput of 132 million metric tons. Foreign trade cargo throughput was 13.98 million tons and container throughput reached 2.85 million TEUs.

Jiaxing Inland Port saw a container throughput of 509,300 TEUs, an increase of 34.24 percent year-on-year. It ranked second in container throughput and first in container throughput growth rate in Zhejiang province, with a cargo throughput of 126 million tons.

According to the list, in 2022 China had a total of seven ports with a throughput growth rate exceeding 10 percent, among which Jiaxing Port ranked first with a container throughput growth rate of 28.4 percent.

In addition, Jiaxing Port added three new routes, from Zhapu to Taizhou, Rugao and Nantong, in the first half of this year. The number of sea-river combined transportation routes increased to 25.
