The 12th China (Honghe) Sweater Culture Festival opened in Honghe town, Jiaxing, Zhejiang province on Aug 8, attracting online buyers, experts and industry peers from all over the country.

At the opening ceremony, the government of Honghe town and the China Commercial Circulation Association of Textile and Apparel jointly built the Honghe Sweater Overseas Base and signed online contracts with five major overseas markets, including Italy, Hungary, Russia, Poland, and Chile, providing new channels and opportunities for Honghe sweaters to go global.

The Honghe sweater industry started in the 1970s. From a roadside market to a famous sweater town in China, the Honghe sweater industry has become the town's most prominent industry.

Today, Honghe becomes a famous sweater processing and manufacturing base, a sweater distribution center, an export base and a supply base for e-commerce.

It is currently home to more than 200 sweater production enterprises with more than 70,000 employees. Its products are exported to more than 50 countries and regions, such as Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Japan, South Korea and Russia, with an annual turnover of more than 20 billion yuan ($2.77 billion).

The Jiaxing Global Aviation Logistics Hub is now under construction, which will greatly promote the development of Jiaxing's airport economy and help Honghe's traditional sweater industry enter international markets.
