The 2023 China Youth Electronic & Information Literacy Competition, a prestigious event of the Ministry of Education, took place in Wuzhen town, Tongxiang, a county-level city of Jiaxing in Zhejiang province, from Aug 18 to 21.
Nearly 10,000 young contestants from 23 provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities and Macao participated in the event, along with more than 30,000 accompanying persons.
The competition is part of Tongxiang's efforts to promote the integration of science and education and innovative development. Tongxiang has hosted several large-scale science and technology events in the past, such as the 35th Zhejiang Adolescent Science & Technology Innovation Contest and the Enjoy AI 2023 Global Youth Artificial Intelligence Competition East China Regional Selection.
Tongxiang has also been recognized as a national science education demonstration city for 2021-2025. With this honor, it aims to turn Wuzhen into an international internet town and an internet education cluster and create a high-quality Wuzhen youth scientific and technological innovation and science education center.
Wuzhen is the permanent venue of the World Internet Conference and is home to many science and technology education venues and bases related to the internet, artificial intelligence, smart technology and more. Relying on these advantages, Tongxiang has developed a number of youth science education venues.
"We hope to build a youth science education ecosystem in Wuzhen within three years. We want to make Wuzhen a place where the latest achievements in internet technology are shared, and a place where youth scientific and technological innovation competitions are held," said a member of the Tongxiang Science Association.
